11.13.06 | TRANSFIRST Appoints Industry Veteran For Its Growing Government Services Division
Experiencing growth and success from coast to coast, GSD names new leader
DALLAS (November 13, 2006) — TRANSFIRST, a leading provider of transaction processing services and payment enabling technologies, announced that Walter C. Patterson has been named the senior vice president of its Government Services Division (GSD). In this role, Patterson will help lead the company's expansion efforts for this division in which TRANSFIRST provides processing solutions to municipalities and other government agencies.
Utilizing his more than 29 years of management experience, Patterson will build relationships with the public sector and continue to introduce cities and counties across the nation to the customer service and efficiency improvements a city can realize for its residents and visitors through the efficient transaction processing solutions offered by TRANSFIRST.
"Walt's public sector experience along with the past 17 years working in the electronic funds transfer industry uniquely positions him to lead GSD's efforts as it continues to expand its reach," said Thomas Rouse, TRANSFIRST chairman and chief executive officer.
"TRANSFIRST has successfully built its Government Services Division based on offering a customized approach for each of its municipality customers and providing excellent customer service," said Patterson. "I look forward to working with the TRANSFIRST team to build on these achievements and help municipalities across the country realize improved efficiencies, increased revenue and improved customer service - just a few of the benefits of TRANSFIRST's transaction processing services and payment enabling technologies."
Prior to joining the Government Services Division of TRANSFIRST, Patterson was senior vice president for Affiliated Computer Services, Inc., (ACS).
Patterson formerly served as chairman and vice chairman of the Electronic Funds Transfer Association board of directors, as well as treasurer of the group and chairman of its EBT Industry Council. He currently serves on the Board of the Southern Financial Partners, an Arkansas-based development bank. He also serves on the National Services Board of the Volunteers of America, a program Patterson has been involved in for more than 20 years, which directs its efforts to child welfare, elderly issues, homelessness, mental health and education.
