11.06.06 | Ninth Largest Payments Processor in U.S., TRANSFIRST Signs License Agreement With IP Commerce
TRANSFIRST Leverages IP Payments Framework to Expand Growth in New Markets
DENVER (November 6, 2006) — IP Commerce, Inc., a software company enabling open payment services between businesses, today announced that TRANSFIRST has signed a license agreement to leverage its IP Payments Framework (IPPF). This agreement enables TRANSFIRST to broaden its service offerings and reach more merchant customers through TRANSACTION CENTRAL, TRANSFIRST's proprietary web-based centralized payment processing system. TRANSFIRST, along with independent software vendors (ISVs), will now be able to provide a wider array of payment options and application add-ins to their customers and merchants.
TRANSFIRST, a leading provider of credit card processing services and payment enabling technologies, is ranked as one of the top 10 U.S. processors, based on The Nilson Report's "2005 Top U.S. Bank Card Acquirers" consolidated list. By leveraging IP Commerce's IPPF, TRANSFIRST can now offer ISVs simplified access to and integration with its suite of payment services such as multiple payment processing methods that include Internet, ACH, batch, wireless and recurring payments.
For decades, electronic payments have been delivered and processed using a collection of proprietary platforms, unrelated systems and incompatible message formats. This limiting environment has been a barrier to the introduction and adoption of new payment types and services. IPPF enables these disparate payment platform technologies to communicate over broadband, and allows ISVs to easily access and integrate new combinations of payment options, such as those provided by TRANSFIRST, with service provider offerings or software applications (for instance, credit card processing through an accounting software application). ISVs can then make these new payment capabilities and services available to merchants, opening an entirely new stream of revenue and business growth opportunities for both the ISVs and TRANSFIRST.
"IP Commerce's IPPF provides a platform that enables our payment services to communicate with other platforms, which translates into more choices and more value add for our clients," said Thomas Rouse, CEO, TRANSFIRST. "IP Commerce has simplified the integration process so TRANSFIRST and ISVs can work together to quickly and more easily deliver solutions to small and mid-size merchants."
"Support for IPPF is rapidly expanding as payments industry leaders like TRANSFIRST realize the benefits this open framework provides," said Chip Kahn, CEO, IP Commerce. "Having TRANSFIRST as a valued partner validates that the top players in the payments industry understand the need for an open payments network and will champion our efforts to revolutionize the marketplace."
