Evolution

TransFirst was founded in 1995 under the name ACS Merchant Services by a group of executives from a top-15 company in the payment processing industry. The name TransFirst was adopted in 2000 as part of a recapitalization by the GTCR Fund VII. TransFirst was acquired from GTCR in 2007 by Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe.

Mergers & Acquisitions

TransFirst has completed the following mergers and acquisitions:

  • Money Tree Services – added 3,300 merchants and $350 million in processing volume
  • PulseCard Inc. – added $500 million in annual processing volume and vertical expertise in health services transaction processing
  • DPI Merchant Services – added $850 million in annual processing volume and expertise in e-commerce and e-commerce transaction processing
  • Bank of America Merchant Services, Inc. – added $3 billion in annual sales volume to significantly increase TransFirst’s share of the total agent bank merchant processing market
  • Payment Resources International® – added $1 billion in annual processing volume, 7,500 total merchant contracts and proprietary, internally developed technology
  • Fifth Third Bank Processing Solutions’ Third Party Sales Merchant Division – added $7.5 billion in annual sales volume and significant growth in the company’s Independent Sales Services Division
  • Solveras Payment Solutions – added $2.5 m/billion in annual processing volume and expertise in professional association partnerships and transaction processing
  • US Merchant Services – added considerable resources selling mid-market merchant products and services
